Are there any age restrictions on purchasing a funeral plan?

Our plans are available to anyone aged 18 and over; there’s no age limit.

Do I need a medical to buy a pre-paid funeral plan?

No. there’s no medical questions and also no medical required when applying for one of our plans.

Can my family add any personal touches to my funeral at the time?

The person arranging the funeral can include further services such as: flowers, additional limousines, newspaper notices, burial or scattering of ashes which are not included in your plan.

The funeral director will help arrange these services and they will also need to be paid for in full at the time of the funeral by the person who is arranging these optional extras.

How do I pay for my pre-paid funeral plan?

We have a choice of payment options available. Your funeral plan can be paid for in full with a single payment, by monthly direct debit over the period of 12, 24, 36 or 60 months or fixed monthly payments (payable for life or until the age 90) using a Gill Funeral Care Plan.

What happens if I die abroad?

Our plans are suitable in mainland Great Britain and Northern Ireland. If you were to die abroad, then Gills funeral care funeral director could assist with arranging repatriation (which you may be insured for).

We can’t include this service in any of our funeral plans due to its uncertain nature, so it will need to be paid for at the time.

Who will be providing my funeral?

Your funeral will be carried out by Gills Funeral care; that will take care of everything for you, so you won’t need to worry. Your loved ones special day will be planned by one of our experienced funeral directors.

Am I able to put personal items into the coffin?

Yes, you can put personal items in the coffin; however, we cannot allow any metal and glass items. Different cemeteries and crematoriums have different regulations and policies regarding this, you will have to discuss this in more depth with your funeral director.

How do I know that the cremated remains I receive back are those of my loved ones?

The cremation process is governed by strict rules and regulations. The crematorium must take great care to ensure that every individual cremation is kept completely separate, giving you peace of mind.

What if I cannot pay?

If you are having trouble paying for a funeral that you have to arrange, you may be able to get a social fund funeral payment to help you with the cost, however it is not a set figure as each case is looked at individually.

How much will the funeral cost?

There are several factors that can determine the total funeral cost such as; the style of funeral, choice of coffin, number of limousines required etc. we will provide you with an itemised estimate of the funeral costs.
